New Year's Resolutions. Everyone always goes on about them. Most of us apparently never keep them. But for better or worse, each New Year always has that promise of a fresh start, and that hint that "I can do things differently this time". 

It's that pristine, unspoiled, blank canvas feel.

That "THIS is MY year!", "the world is my oyster", "it's a fresh start", "New Year, New Me" vibe comes along in January, and brings with it a re-evaluation of everything that's happened in your life so far.

We wanted to tap into the New Year positivity, and help you make 2018 your best year, not through New Year's Resolutions, but with some simple tips each week to help you get the most out of your life. Our new blog series, Hit Refresh, will provide that little boost to help you stay motivated, keep a positive attitude, and achieve your goals.

It's been proven that choosing to be actively grateful in life improves physical and psychological health. Incredible really, that something so simple has such a profound effect on our minds and even our bodies. Some studies have shown that being grateful can actually re-wire your brain. 

But how often do we take things for granted and complain? It's so easy to get bogged down with negativity and forget about how much what we do have to be thankful for. Even if you're having the worst ever day, there's always something simple you can find in your life to feel good about. 

So, this simple task seems perfect to kick off 2018 with. And it's something that will help uplift you on a daily basis, and train your mind to see things more positively.



Take an empty jar, with a lid. Each day write at least one note (the more the merrier!) about something good that happened that day, or something you are thankful for, fold it up and seal it in the jar. It doesn't have to be something major like a new promotion, or getting engaged (though those are good too!) - this is about celebrating the "Sweet" little things each day, be it taking time to catch up with an old friend, or enjoying a delicious maple and pecan danish.

Do this every day, and not only will it help you maintain a positive mindset throughout 2018, but by the end of the year you'll have a full jar of good things which you can read through, look back on, celebrate all over again.
